The 12th ASEM (Asia-Europe Meeting) Summit took place on 18-19 October, bringing together 51 countries, as well as the European Union (EU) and Asian institutions. Under the title 'Global Partners for Global Challenges', leaders addressed some of the world's most pressing issues.

The meeting produced results on cooperation between Europe and Asia, covering a wide range of areas. The two sides also decided to launch a new wave of trade and partnership agreements. European and Asian leaders discussed security issues and argued in favour of multilateralism.

Side events like the ASEM business forum and a cultural festival were also held simultaneously.
