International Women's Day on 8 March 2017 provided an opportunity to take stock of progress towards gender equality. Three own-initiative reports by the European Parliament’s Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM), highlighting persistent gender inequalities and emerging issues in the European Union, and were discussed on the agenda for the plenary session in the European Parliament later in March 2017.
