The issue of debt restructuring or default continues to be a forbidden subject among finance ministers and the International Monetary Fund in the context of the 2010 Greek debt crisis.

But as Greece contemplates receiving the largest financial rescue in IMF history, investors and economists are starting to look at just when it might admit defeat and either seek to extend the maturity of the debt in a restructuring or simply stop paying.
