EurActiv reported that Austrian Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger as saying that Austria would prefer forging a special partnership between the European Union and Turkey over full EU membership for Ankara, May 2011. In addition, Austria would hold a national referendum on Turkey's accession to the European Union whatever the outcome of talks between the European Commission and Ankara. |
