Beckett urges farmers to back CAP reforms

In a speech at a farming conference in Oxford in January 2002 the UK Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Margaret Beckett, urged British farmers to back a fundamental overhaul of the 40-year old Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). European Union talks on revision of the CAP will take place in the summer of 2002.
