Date: 17/09/1998 The latest indication that the BSE scare is finally subsiding has come from no less a source than the European Parliament's crèche. After banning beef from the dinner plates of EU fonctionnaires' children for two years, the crèche's top dietician has sent a letter to parents saying it will soon be back on the tiny tots' menu. “The quality of the meat we use is sure. In addition, the risk of contaminated beef on the Belgian market is almost zero,” explained the letter. It remains to be seen, however, whether Europe's youngest consumers will be prepared to exchange their favourite French fries and pizzas for beefburgers. |
