Last week's Euro-summit in Amsterdam finished too late for Entre Nous to bring you the full gossipy details until now.

It also finished too late for the guests, who staggered out of the central bank tired and tetchy at about 3.30 on Wednesday morning.

The summit host Dutch Premier Wim Kok had promised his guests the show would be over by midnight, but as it was only a draft promise no one should have considered it anything more than negotiable.

The delay upset the Luxembourg delegation's plans to fly straight home because no night landings are allowed in the Grande Duchy. Ditto the British, while German Chancellor Helmut Kohl was furious to be still at the summit negotiating table just seven hours before a crucial cabinet meeting in Bonn...
