The book 'Better Policies, Better Outcomes' - launched in the European Parliament buildings in Brussels on 22 February 2006 - is the outcome of a three-year transnational exchange project called ‘Mainstreaming Social Inclusion’. It seeks to advance the understanding of mainstreaming as a policy tool to realise social inclusion under the national action plans on poverty. The project derived its impetus from the growing priority given to tackling poverty and social exclusion at the Lisbon European Council. The study was funded by DG Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities of the European Commission, under the Social Exclusion Programme 2002-2006. It will be followed up by a research project using the methodology that was developed. |
