Blair hits at ‘hype’ over anti-treaty campaign

The UK Prime Minister, Tony Blair, has described as 'hype and scaremongering' suggestions that a European Union constitution would create a superstate. In a speech in Brussels on 19 May 2003, the UK Foreign Secretary, Jack Straw, stepped up the attack on those criticising the process by which the constitution was being drawn up [see Related URL for text of speech].
