Background information: The annual conference provides a platform for discussion of pressing regional and global issues and is branded as a leading event in Central and South East Europe. It attracts over 500 participants including heads of state and government, ministers, diplomats, representatives of the business sphere, scholars and the media from across the globe. The forum also allows for bilateral and multilateral meetings with regional and global stakeholders and for extensive networking between political and business leaders. The central panel debate included a reaction from Turkey's Foreign Minister to statements made by German Chancellor Angela Merkel during a TV debate on the relations between Turkey and the European Union. The 2017 edition of the Bled Strategic Forum was held on 4-5 September 2017. |
