The Ex-Ante Impact Assessment Unit of the European Parliament, set up in 2012, scrutinises the quality of the European Commission’s impact assessments on the basis of which new laws are proposed and to ensure that Parliamentary Committees are thoroughly informed about the potential impacts and able to act in the full knowledge of the facts.
