Britain can be a leader in EU, says PM

Despite its exclusion from the eurozone, Tony Blair, the British Prime Minister, insisted on 7 January 2002 that Britain could be a leading member of the European Union. Senior pro-euro ministers have warned that Britain risks losing political influence in the EU if it stays outside the eurozone.
