Britain’s approach to the Intergovernmental Conference. Statement by the Foreign Secretary, Robin Cook, House of Common, London, Tuesday 15 February 2000

Robin Cook, UK Foreign Secretary, made a statement to the House of Commons on the government's support for the enlargement of the European Union and its approach to the Intergovernmental Conference which is necessary to prepare the European Union for almost double the present number of Member States.

The Government also published a White Paper 'Reform for Enlargement' which sets out in detail the steps which the European Union must take to get ready for enlargement.
