Subsequently, United Kingdom Prime Minister Theresa May made clear in a tv interview on the 8 January 2017 that she would set out proposals for Brexit 'in coming weeks'. She hinted that the UK might leave the EU's single market. However the Chancellor of the Exchequer Philip Hammond said on the 9 January 2017 'We haven't made any decision on which structures would best support our aspirations ... Whether it is being in or out of the customs union, in or out of the single market' ... .
