Brown’s Europe speech to build support

Preview and report of speech by UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown at the European Parliament, Strasbourg, 24 March 2009. The speech was at the start of a round-the-world trip by Mr Brown designed to build consensus before the April 2009 G20 meeting in London. He said that Europe is 'uniquely placed' to provide world leadership in the economic downturn because of its history of co-operation.
