Brussels blesses merger between Daimler and Russian military vehicle producer

Under the EU Merger Regulation, the European Commission approved on 24 February 2015 the creation of a joint venture by Daimler AG, of Germany, and Kamaz OJSC, of Russia, a producer of trucks.

EurActiv reported that the Russian company was also a producer of a large variety of armoured vehicles, some of which were in use in the Ukraine conflict. Ukraine officially compained to the European Commission against the decision to allow the joint venture, stating it was against the spirit of the EU sanctions against Russia.
