Brussels closes in on energy reform

Article reports that a long-running plan to liberalise the European Union’s gas and electricity markets could finally come to fruition after the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union reached a compromise, 23 March 2009, on a host of ­difficult issues that had delayed the package.
