Brussels concern over Shell deal

Due to concerns over a planned joint venture between Royal Dutch/Shell and RWE, the German multi-utility, the European Union competition authority referred part of the joint venture back to the German cartels office on 23 August 2001. The Bundeskartellamt will have to make a final decision within four months on whether the merging of RWE and Shell Germany's petrol stations can go ahead.
