Article reports that United Kingdom Prime Minister David Cameron’s problems over Europe were set to become a problem for the whole EU, as he arrived for the crucial European Council summit meeting to deal with the eurozone debt crisis in Brussels on the 8-9 December 2011. Mr Cameron was under considerable pressure from his eurosceptic Conservative Party to show the 'bulldog spirit' in the treaty negotiations to protect the integrity of Europe’s single market and the City of London.

Mr Cameron’s political problem in managing his eurosceptic party – more than 80 Tory MPs defied him in the autumn of 2011 and demanded a referendum on the EU – was seen in some European capitals as the biggest obstacle to a eurozone deal.
