On 17.5.00 UK Members of Parliament urged the government to back attempts to limit the number of overseas players iin British football because of concerns that young home-grown talent was being stifled. The EU said it could not implement changes to employment law without the backing of all 15 member states and that changes to the law would be against the Treaty of Rome. |
