Cameron under pressure after eurosceptic party makes gains

Report of the results of local government elections in parts of England and Wales (+ a by-election in the constituency of South Shields) held on the 2 May 2013.

The key feature was that UKIP, the populist anti-EU party, sent tremors through Britain’s political establishment, winning seats on councils across the country and picking up about 25%.
