Carmakers call for consumer boost

Article reports that Europe's motor industry is preparing October 2008 to ask for €40bn in loans and incentives from the EU aimed at re-animating the continent's plummeting car markets and to support their investments in lower-emission vehicles, along the lines of America's recently approved $25bn loan package for Detroit.
