CBI calls for halt to financial services controls

The Confederation of British Industry has called for a moratorium on financial services regulation amid fears that additional legislation could threaten the role of the industry in the UK economy. A report from the employers' organisation published 25 October 2004 says the competitiveness of the financial services sector is being threatened by a 'tidal wave' of regulation, particularly from Europe.
