China seeks WTO deal with Europe

Negotiators from the European Union are in Beijing, 21.2.00, for a new round of talks on China's bid to join the World Trade Organisation (WTO).

Before it can join, China has to reach agreement with the EU and 13 individual countries; it has already done so with the United States and Japan, among others.

China has been trying to join the WTO for 14 years.
