Cisco joins Portuguese ‘smart city’ project

Cisco, the world’s largest maker of networking equipment, announced plans for a technology innovation centre in Portugal, June 2010. The plan is linked to a project by a technology company called Living PlanIT to develop a greenfield site in northern Portugal as one of Europe’s first “smart cities”, embedding networking technology in its buildings and infrastructures.
