Greeceā€™s civil servants and other public service officials staged a 24-hour strike nationwide on the 7 October 2010 to protest against the austerity measures designed to restore fiscal sustainability and economic competitiveness in the debt-laden country.

However, the turnout was lower than in previous rallies a few months earlier, which is indicative of the prevailing mood as many civil servants have realised that their demonstrations have not borne fruit so far.
