Preview of an emergency Justice and Home Affairs meeting in Brussels on 13 July 2005 at which the United Kingdom was to press for controversial anti-terrorism laws on storage of telecommunications and internet data after the terrorist attacks in London on 7 July 2005. The proposed laws, which would require telephone and e-mail records to be stored for at least twelve months, have met with opposition from the European Commission, MEPs, industry and civil liberties groups.
