Commission accepts Ombudsman’s recommendation in Isle of Wight case

The European Ombudsman has concluded that the Commission stayed within the limits of its legal authority when it decided not to classify the Isle of Wight as a NUTS (Nomenclature of the Territorial Units for Statistics) level 2 region and instead confirmed its previous decision to classify the island as a NUTS level 3 region. The Ombudsman therefore considers that the Commission has carried out his draft recommendation to reconsider the NUTS classification of the island.
