Summary:Recommendation adopted by the European Commission on 27 June 2023, providing guidance as well as practical examples for companies and the financial sector on transition finance. Further information:This Recommendation seeks to support market participants that wish to obtain or provide transition finance by offering practical suggestions on how to approach it. It is addressed to undertakings that want to contribute to the transition to climate neutrality and environmental sustainability, while enhancing their competitiveness and are seeking finance for investments for this purpose. It aims to explain the use of sustainable finance tools for this purpose. The document was approved in principle by the European Commission on 13 June 2023 and announced as part of a legislative package focusing on the European Union's (EU) sustainable finance framework. It also follows up on the Commission's Strategy for Financing the Transition to a Sustainable Economy from 2021. It was eventually adopted by the Commission on 27 June 2023 and published in the Official Journal on 7 July 2023. |
