Commission regrets Băsescu’s ‘bigger Romania’ statements

Statements from Romania's president Traian Băsescu regarding a potential unification of his country with Moldova in November 2013 were met with negativity by the European Commission, according to EurActiv.

His internal opponent, Victor Ponta, accused Mr Băsescu of destabilising Romania's neighbour by siding with the pro-Russian communists in Moldova's capital Chisinau.
