Commissioner Danuta Hübner and Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt launch debate on EU strategy for Baltic Sea Region

The European Commissioner for Regional Policy Danuta Hübner launched on 30 September 2008, together with Sweden's prime minister Fredrik Reinfeldt, the consultation period regarding the European Union's Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR).

The debate was held during a Stakeholders Conference, attended by representatives of member states, NGOs, local authorities and financing institutions. Its aim was to lay the foundations for a stronger and more coordinated Baltic Sea policy.

This Strategy was requested by the European Council in December 2007.
