Summary: Communication published by the European Commission in October 2019, which reports on Croatia's progress in meeting the necessary conditions to join the Schengen area. Further information: The purpose of this Communication - published on 22 October 2019 - is to take stock of the progress made by Croatia in meeting the necessary conditions for the application of all parts of the Schengen acquis, taking into account the results of the Schengen evaluations and the follow up undertaken by Croatia from the start of the evaluation in 2016 until October 2019. It also reports on Croatia’s fulfilment of commitments undertaken in its accession negotiations that are relevant for the Schengen acquis from the date of accession until September 2019. The Commission considers that, based on the results of the Schengen evaluation process, Croatia took the measures needed to ensure that the necessary conditions for the full application of the Schengen rules and standards were met. |
