The European Commission adopted on 26 April 2018 a Communication which highlights the challenges associated with online disinformation and sets outs a set of potential measures for tackling online disinformation.

Further information:

The Communication outlines the key overarching principles and objectives which should guide actions to raise public awareness about disinformation and tackle the phenomenon effectively, as well as specific measures which the Commission intends to adopt.

The measures include an EU-wide Code of Practice on Disinformation, support for an independent network of fact-checkers, and a series of actions to stimulate quality journalism and promote media literacy.
