Companies set to defy EU accounting rule delay

Article reports that some of Europe’s biggest multinational companies are preparing to defy moves by the European Commission to delay the introduction of new global accountancy rules within the European Union.

Four companies contacted by the Financial Times say that they are looking to use the so-called IFRS 9 rules as 'pro forma' accounts for 2010 and may begin to prepare the numbers for internal use for this year end.
