Competitiveness Council, 28-29 May 2018

Summary:

A meeting of the Competitiveness Council was held on 28-29 May 2018 - the focus of the first day was on internal market and industry, while on the second day the focus was on research, innovation and space. The agenda includes the following topics:

+ Agreement on a general approach regarding a Regulation on mutual recognition of goods marketed in another Member State;

+ Discussion on a proposal regarding the promotion of fair practices for businesses operating through online platforms;

+ Competitiveness check-up: Assessment of concrete impact of the internal market on the EU industrial base when it comes to competitiveness and productivity;

+ Policy debate on research and innovation within the framework of the MFF for 2021-2027;

+ Agreement on extending until the end of 2020 the research activities carried out under the EURATOM research programme;

+ Adoption of conclusions on knowledge circulation in the European Union and on the European Open Science Cloud;

+ Discussion on the future of the European space policy, particularly in the context of the Digital Single Market (DSM).
