A meeting of the Competitiveness Council (COMPET) was held on 27-28 May 2020. This meeting focusing on matters relating to the internal market and industry. The agenda included the following items:

  • Discussion on the impact of the Fit for 55 package on the economy and industry;
  • Policy debate on future-proof policymaking aimed at improving the competitiveness of the European Union (EU) and further foster the single market, in the framework of the better regulation agenda;
  • Briefing by the European Commission on the activities of the Single Market Enforcement Task-Force (SMET);
  • Update by the Council Presidency on the state of play as regards national ratifications of the Unified Patent Court Agreement (UPCA) and the protocol on the provisional application of the UPCA.
