On the 17 November 2016, the final day of the three-week conciliation period, the negotiating teams of the European Parliament and Council of the European Union reached provisional agreement on the 2017 EU budget. The joint text, which set total commitments at €157.86bn and total payments at €134.49bn, was scheduled for adoption by the Council on 29 November 2016 and vote by the EP in plenary on the 1 December 2016.
