The Conciliation Committee of MEPs from the European Parliament and the Council of Ministers finalised an agreement on 2 May 2006 which means Europe's citizens will in future have easier access to information on the environment and be able to play a more active role in EU decisions in this area. Under the new regulation agreed the EU's institutions will be required to comply with the rules of the Aarhus Convention. |
