Consultation on the transposition of Directive 2008/57/EC on the interoperability of the rail system within the Community

This document sets out the UK Government's proposals for implementing Directive 2008/57/EC on the interoperability of the rail system within the European Community. It is the second of two public written consultations related to the transposition of the above Directive.

In the first consultation (held between March and May 2009) views were sought on the initial policy proposals for transposition in the UK, including how to optimise the current implementation of the existing interoperability Directives. This second Consultation document includes the proposed draft Regulations intended to implement the provisions of the new Directive into UK law, a partial Impact Assessment and revised Guidance. Deadline for responses: 7 June 2010.
