The Directorate-General for Health and Consumer Protection of the European Commission is interested in knowing and monitoring the evolution of consumer satisfaction with regard to services of general interest, and more particularly any criticisms and ideas on areas that need improvement

For this survey in 2004, 24 867 citizens of the 25 European Union Member States were questioned between 27 October and 27 November 2004.

The survey deals with eight services of general interest: Mobile telephone services - Fixed telephone services - Electricity supply services - Gas supply services - Water supply services - Postal services - Transport services within towns/cities - Rail services between towns/cities
