Council Decision (CFSP) 2022/2376 amending Decision (CFSP) 2020/1999 concerning restrictive measures against serious human rights violations and abuses

Summary:

Council Decision (CFSP) 2021/372 - adopted by the Council of the European Union on 5 December 2022 - introducing amendments to Decision (CFSP) 2020/1999 which concerns to sanctions against human rights violations and abuses.

Decision (CFSP) 2020/1999 established an EU Global Human Rights Sanctions Regime - also known as the European Magnitsky Act.

The measures set out in that Decision apply as regards the natural or legal persons, entities and bodies listed in the Annex to that Decision until 8 December 2022. On the basis of the review of the Annex, the measures should be extended until 8 December 2023. The entries concerning six natural persons and two entities included in that Annex should also be updated.

This Decision amends Decision (CFSP) 2020/1999 accordingly. The Act was adopted by the Council of the European Union on 5 December 2022 and published in the Official Journal on the following day.
