Council signals it may drop opposition to new lobbying rules | Timmermans: Transparency is needed to ‘reconnect with sceptical citizens’ | EU commission: Transparency is not a panacea

Reports from a debate called 'EU Lobbying Transparency' organised by the European Parliament Intergroup on Integrity, Transparency, Corruption and Organised Crime in Brussels on the 2 May 2016.

Politico suggested that the Council of the European Union was open to the question of whether it should be included in revised lobbying rules relating to the Transparency Register currently being planned. However, some countries were still suspicious that transparency rules might be extended to their permanent representatives in Brussels.
