EurActiv, and other news sources, reported that the European Court of Justice rejected in a judgment of the 23 October 2012 attempts by airlines - including Tui Travel, EasyJet, Lufthansa and British Airways - to avoid paying compensation for delayed flights, making it harder for carriers to side-step payments in future. The European Court of Justice confirmed its previous ruling that passengers whose flights have been delayed for a long time may be compensated. Where passengers reach their final destination three hours or more after the scheduled arrival time, they may claim fixed compensation from the airline, unless the delay is caused by extraordinary circumstances. |
