Speaking in Geneva, Castro described EU member states as a 'European mafia subordinated to the United States'. Havana has cancelled a visit by senior Union officials to Cuba in protest over the decision by seven EU governments to back the resolution. The move has raised doubts over Cuba's chances of joining the Union's aid and trade agreement with 71 African, Caribbean and Pacific countries.
