Czech budget deficit will delay entrance to euro membership

The new government of the Czech Republic has decided that the country will not be able to adopt the European single currency in 2006 due to the size of the public sector budget deficit. The decision means the Czech Republic will not able to join the eurozone until the end of the decade although it hopes to become a Member State in 2004.
