Davos report warns of EU disintegration

The World Economic Forum released its annual Global Risks Report in January 2016, in which it concluded that the loss of state control, the fragility of the institutions and rise of populism could cause disintegration in the Schengen area and ultimately in the European Union.

The release of this report took place just before the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum, on 20-23 January in Davos, Switzerland.

Included in the WEF 2016 programme was a debate called 'The future of the European Union' held on the 21 January 2016. The Prime Ministers of France, the Netherlands and Greece plus the German Finance Minister on Europe's many challenges.
