Date: 02/12/1999 ...if the money raised is used to help small clubs cope with the fall-out from the European Court of Justice's 1995 ruling on the Bosman case, Sports Commissioner Viviane Reding said this week. She rejected calls for new limits to be imposed on the number of foreign players in European soccer teams, pledging instead to give broadcasting agree-ments between sports federations and TV firms special status if some profits were ploughed back into the game at grass-roots level. Reding's comments came as she unveiled a Commission report on sports policy for next week's Helsinki summit. |
