Declaration from the Presidency on behalf of the European Union on presidential elections in Chile

On the 17 January 2006, the European Union extended its warm congratulations to President-elect Dr. Michelle Bachelet Jeria.

The European Union looked forward to the continuation of its excellent cooperation and a further strengthening of its relations with Chile withinthe framework of the EU-Chile Association Agreement which has paved the way for a very privileged relationship.
