Despite court ban in Spain, Uber drivers return to streets of Barcelona

A court in Barcelona has referred to the European Court of Justice in July 2015 whether Uber is a digital service or a transport company. Commentators have suggested that if the Court decides that Uber is a digital service provider, it will strengthen its case against those countries in Europe trying to curb its activities.

Separately, Uber had filed a complaint with the European Commission over restrictions to its activities in Spain, France and Germany.

The Spanish Federation of Taxi Drivers (Fedetaxi) called for a European alliance to fight against Uber.
