For the UK viewpoint on EMU see the Treasury's page at http://www.hmtreasury.gov.uk/pub/html/docs/emu/main.html/ which offers business reports, convergence information, and pros and cons of EMU. Even more useful, however, is the official UK government web site on the euro located at http://www.euro.gov.uk/. This site is clearly laid out and it is to be hoped that it will be developed further as the single currency proceeds. In addition to ministerial speeches, press releases and publications it carries a range of euro factsheets for businesses (available in html and pdf format), a section looking at whether the UK will join EMU, conversion rates for countries entering EMU, information on sources of advice and links to participating Member States' organisations. The site is also of interest in that it actively seeks information on who is going to use the euro for accounting, invoicing or pricing. Conversion rates between the euro and sterling, case studies, the EMU timetable, practical information for business, local government preparations for the euro and research on the awareness of British business are all to be found here.
